Vibe 98.5 VIP Club Codes
I obviously do not like vibe at all… todays hottest music? not for me. However, they have this VIP club that you can collect points for if you listen for bonus codes at 4 different times throughout the day. My girlfriend Tanya collects them. You can use them on the Vibe website to bid on auctions or to enter contests.
Anyway, the only reason I’m talking about it is I beat the system. With a combination of Windows Scheduled Tasks and VLC player I setup 4 schedules to record the web broadcast for about 8 minutes. I record at 7:30, 11:30, 5:30, and 8:30. This way she can get all of the bonus codes without even having to listen at those times.
So suck that Vibe. I win, you lose.

Matt,
Can you explain to me how you recorded the vibe bonus codes? I have downloaded VLC but cannot figure out what network stream to input for recording during those times. I wanna cheat the codes too!

I would like to know how to set this up as well. If you don’t mind, can you please send me instructions on how to use VLC and windows task scheduler to ‘beat the system’ with vibe 98.5.
I noticed the other post a week or so ago and having been checking to see if you posted a response so I didn’t bug you for the same thing.

haha, sorry, I guess I need to pay more attention to this site. I have never really had much of a response to my posts. I think that is pretty obvious though considering I am responding about a month after the fact.
I cant post my method right now, but I will take a minute later and post how I did it.

Ok, so what I did was use Scheduled Tasks in windows to make VLC player start, open the Vibe radio stream and start dumping it to a file, and then stop after 12 minutes. I was able to find the address for the audio stream by viewing the page source on the Vibe website. Then I pasted that into the play network stream function in VLC player.
Here is how I was able to do this:
Install VLC Player.
In Windows go to Start > Accessories > System Tools > Scheduled Tasks
Create a new task and paste the following into the the Run field
"C:\Program Files\VideoLAN\VLC\vlc.exe" mms://66.244.221.244/cibk4?ext=.asf&al=1GqusVeRM_27OrxQcfUjrcRo-hpdIEfpORXNgS8Mv8UAI4Bss8MOINyxj_JmPi4G&id=4&mount=cibk :sout=#transcode{acodec=mp3,ab=128,channels=2}:duplicate{dst=std{access=file,mux=mpeg1,dst=D:\vibe\0730.mpg}}You have to change D:\Vibe\0730.mpg to the path and filename where you want the recorded file to be saved.
Under schedule set the task to run Daily at 7:28 every 1 days.
Under settings click the check beside Stop the task if it runs for and set the time to 12 minutes.
Make sure “Wake the computer to run this task” is checked.
And that should be it! You have to repeat the above process 4 times, once for each bonus code time. I set the tasks to start at 7:28, 11:28, 5:28, and 8:28, and I set it to record for 12 minutes because they don’t always do it on time, and are most often late.
Also, for each task you create you have to change the filename. So the first one I set to 0730.mpg, the second was 1128.mpg, and so on.
If you have problems with the above, here is my Task file for the 7:30 bonus code. Put this into your Scheduled tasks, duplicate it 4 times and then change the start time and the filename as I showed above.

PS, I have never tested using the above file on another computer, so if it doesn’t work, there is nothing I can do about it.

I don’t actually do the codes myself, my girlfriend does, so I don’t even know what they are.
That takes all of the fun out of it anyway!

hey, have you even won anything on it yet….hey you know whats funny….since they play so many commercials their slogan should be today’s HOTTEST COMMERCIALS…..they are all so cheap….i HATE VIBE……they play atleast 10 mins worth of commercials and they are always atleast 5 mins late…..they are also so cheap….even though they make so much money from advertisements……..if you check out their auctions page they have nothing good…..always tickets which they get for free and are worth nothing to them……..

Personally I think pop music sucks hardcore. I don’t listen to the station but most radio stations play too many commercials especially during peak driving hours.

they actually play the most commercials during the bonus code time……and if you miss a code they wont even give it to you…..they are so cheap….they are allowed to play 10 mins worth of commercials and be late for ten mins….and if we miss it oooo….sorry i cant givce it to you…..(bull****) i hate that station

Nope, it stopped working after a while and I didn’t care to try and find out why and my girlfriend stopped entering them. Basically at this point if you haven’t been collecting all along there is no way you are going to win anything anyway. Unless you gamble them and win, which is probably still not going to get you enough.

Well I hear 1-2 club codes every day but have never signed up until now, Perhaps we could set up a little network of 4-5 people who all share the days codes every day.
