More on combining high speed connections

Funny thing… I just came across this and wasnt even looking for it. Here are some good software instructions for Windows for using two high speed connections together.

And here are some Linux instructions

Combine two high speed connections into one

Currently I am with Telus for my high-speed DSL connection. It works ok for me. I get about 2.5Mbps/650Kbps speeds. But I have noticed that Shaw offers 7Mbps/1Mbps speeds for the same price as what I am paying with Telus. Now I have done my research and have found that the pro’s with Shaw are they have good customer service and provide better speeds. The pro’s with Telus are they wont give you a hard time if you go over your monthly usage (60GB/mo), which I regularly do. If I thought that Shaw wouldn’t care about my bandwidth usage then I would probably switch pretty quickly. However for the time being I think I’ll stay with Telus.

Somehow this got me into thinking about having both Shaw and Telus coming into my house. I could have the benefit of having higher speeds for my every day browsing and downloading and use the Telus connection for some of the heaver bandwidth usage. Through this I stumbled across Multi-WAN routers. These routers allow you to hook up 2 or more WAN’s (high-speed connections) into a single network.

Movie: The Hills have Eyes (Remake)

thehillshaveeyes.jpgI must have been living under a rock or something. I don’t know how I missed this but apparently Alexander Aja of Haute Tension fame has directed a remake of Wes Craven’s 1977 movie The Hills Have Eyes. From the looks of the Apple trailer here the remake stays true to the original plot of the movie. However, you never know what they are going to throw in there. I really enjoyed Haute Tension and I’m hoping Alexander brings some of that brutality to this remake.

The release date is set for March 10th, 2006

Movie: Hard Candy

hardcandy.jpgThis Lions Gate movie coming out sometime this year I believe takes on the topic of what happens when a teen girl meets a man on the Internet. The trailer shows the girl follows him back to his house and what happens after that is sort of unclear from the trailer. My prediction is the kid is the psycho, not the grownup. Just a guess though.

Movie Review: Wolf Creek

wolfcreek.jpgWhen I watched the trailer for Wolf Creek I really wasn’t impressed. I thought the trailer had a Texas Chainsaw Massacre copycat feel to it. I like The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and most of its sequels (excluding the next generation) but some of the copycats have really sucked. Exhibit A: Wrong Turn. However, I got the movie anyway and was very surprised at how much I enjoyed it.
